Blockchain for Food?

I was reading in an email today about the blockchain.  Yeah, the same one with all the cryptocurrency.  Except, this blockchain will be used to follow the chain of custody for food and help verify Country Of Origin as well as other aspects of food safety.

FEE, the Foundation for Economic Education, published an article by Jeffrey Tucker about Bitcoin in which he explains some ways the blockchain is, well, needed.  That need applies in this aspect, and that need is property rights.  The product of one’s labor of growing fruit is as much in need of digital support as any other private property need.

Here’s the link, h/t to the publisher.
